Gas Safety
By law, The Association must carry out an annual service and safety check of all gas appliances in your home.
Our dedicated gas contractors require access into your home to carry out the safety check which should take no longer than one hour. During the visit they will check your heating system to ensure it is in safe working order and arrange any follow up repairs which may be required. Whilst we cannot carry out repairs to tenants' own gas appliances e.g. gas cookers, we will check that the appliance is safe to use and report any defects to you.
Why do you need to service my boiler?
The annual service is essential in;
- the effective operation of your central heating system;
- the safety of yourself, your family and your neighbours.
Access for gas servicing
The Association follows strict procedures to ensure gas safety checks are carried out in our properties annually.
Please let us know if you are unable to provide access for the appointment provided and we can make a more suitable arrangement.
Failure to provide access for the servicing to be carried out is in breach of your tenancy agreement and where necessary, The Association can take legal action to gain access to your property to have the safety checks carried out. If we do this, you will be recharged for any costs involved. However, this is a last resort - please speak to us as soon as possible if you have any concerns in relation to the gas safety check.
Gas Safe Register
All gas engineers instructed by the Association in our properties are registered on the Gas Safe Register. By law, all gas businesses and their engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register to work legally on gas equipment.
If you have any work done to a gas appliance in your home e.g. installing a gas cooker, you must check that the tradesman is registered. You can do so by clicking here.
