The award marks a major milestone in Reidvale’s recent journey, recognising the commitment, resilience and leadership shown by the Association’s governing body during one of the most significant periods in its history.
Just over two years ago, Reidvale’s future as an independent, community-based housing association was uncertain. Following a period of regulatory intervention and a proposed transfer of engagements to another landlord, local members voted in January 2024 to retain Reidvale’s independence.
Since then, the Association’s governing body has worked with focus and determination to rebuild confidence, strengthen governance and ensure Reidvale could move forward with a clear sense of purpose.
That work has delivered significant results. In October 2024, the Scottish Housing Regulator confirmed Reidvale’s return to full regulatory compliance, marking the end of a challenging chapter and the beginning of a new phase for the Association and its community.
The Share Award recognises the role played by Reidvale’s governing body in leading that turnaround. Committee members have strengthened oversight, improved financial and risk reporting, supported long term planning, and helped create a more stable platform for the future.
The Association has also seen strong improvements in tenant satisfaction, with overall satisfaction rising from 84.2% in 2023 to 92.67% in 2025. Reidvale’s performance now exceeds the Scottish average across a number of key indicators, including satisfaction with the quality of homes, value for money and opportunities for tenants to participate.
Alongside its governance improvement work, Reidvale has continued to look outward to the needs of the community. The governing body has supported a strategic approach to investment in traditional sandstone tenements, helped secure the future of Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre through a partnership with the Halliday Foundation, and launched consultation on a 10 year Community Investment Strategy.
Daryl McIntosh, Chief Executive Officer, said:
“Reidvale’s achievement is exceptional. In a particularly strong field of applications, the judges recognised that the governing body stood out for its leadership, professionalism and clear commitment to improvement.
“The progress made over a short period is highly impressive, making them very worthy winners, and Share is delighted to recognise their success.”
Denise Dempsey, chair of Reidvale Housing Association, said:
“This recognition means a great deal to us. It reflects the dedication, integrity and genuine community spirit shown by every member of our committee, our staff team, and the tenants and residents who continue to guide and inspire our work.
“Over the past two years, we have navigated challenges, embraced change and focused on what matters most, providing safe, quality homes and ensuring the people of Reidvale have a strong voice in shaping their community.
“This award affirms that when we work together with purpose and compassion, we can achieve real and lasting impact. We accept it with pride and with renewed determination to keep driving forward for Reidvale.”
The award is a proud moment for Reidvale and for the wider community it serves. It recognises not only the work done to restore compliance, but the values that have underpinned that work: accountability, local democracy, transparency and a strong belief in community control.
Reidvale said the win demonstrates what can be achieved when governing body members, staff, tenants and partners work together around a shared commitment to protect local services and deliver better outcomes for residents.
The Association added that the award is not the end of its improvement journey, but a moment to recognise how far Reidvale has come and to look ahead with renewed confidence.
