How to pay your rent

You can pay your rent in a number of ways.  Please choose the option that works best for you.

Keeping your rent account up to date is important, but we know that people can face money worries for many different reasons.  If you are struggling, please speak to us as early as possible.  We are here to help.

Worried about paying your rent?

Please do not wait until the problem gets worse.  If you are worried about paying your rent, contact us as soon as you can.

We can:

  • Help you understand your rent account
  • Talk through your options
  • Refer you for money or benefits advice
  • Agree a realistic repayment arrangement if you have arrears
  • Help you access support where available

You will not be judged for asking for help. The earlier you speak to us, the more we can do.

There are a number of ways you can pay your rent.

Please use your tenancy reference when making a payment.

This helps us allocate your payment to the right rent account.

If you are not sure what reference to use, please contact us before making the payment.

Help with rent and benefits

Help with rent and benefits

You may be able to get help with your rent through Universal Credit, Housing Benefit or other support.

If your circumstances change, for example if you lose work, your income changes, someone moves in or out, or you become unwell, please tell us as soon as possible.

We can help you understand what this may mean for your rent account and where to get advice.

If you have rent arrears

If you fall behind with your rent, we will contact you to discuss your account.

We want to work with you to find a way forward. In most cases, this will involve agreeing an affordable repayment arrangement and making sure you are getting any benefits or support you are entitled to.

Ignoring rent arrears can make the situation worse, so please speak to us early.

Speak to us early

Money worries can happen for many reasons. You may have had a change in income, a delay in benefits, increased household costs or an unexpected bill.

Whatever the reason, please contact us. We would rather speak to you early and help you avoid further difficulty.
