Reidvale Housing Association has secured £77,982.50 of new funding to strengthen tenancy support in the local community, helping existing tenants stay secure in their homes and giving people moving on from homelessness a stronger start in a new tenancy.
The award, from the Glasgow Upstream Homelessness Prevention Fund, will allow Reidvale to launch its new Tenancy Sustainment project.
Over the next year, the project is expected to provide direct support to around 70 households, with earlier contact helping to identify difficulties before they become a housing crisis.
The investment comes as Reidvale continues to strengthen the support available to its existing and new tenants.
Denise Dempsey, Chairperson of Reidvale Housing Association, said:
“A good home should provide stability, and we want to do everything we reasonably can to help people keep that stability.
“This funding means we can provide more support to tenants who are beginning to struggle, rather than waiting until a problem has become a crisis.
“This is another positive investment in Reidvale and our community, and we are looking forward to working with The Halliday Foundation and our other partners to turn that investment into a real difference for local people.”
The funding for this project will be shared with The Halliday Foundation, who will work alongside Reidvale to provide community-based and practical support. Molendinar Park Housing Association will also be involved as a learning and capacity-building partner.
Chris Halliday, Director of Operations, The Halliday Foundation, said:
“Through our work, we see how difficult it can be to settle into a home or maintain a tenancy when money is tight and essential items are out of reach.
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Reidvale Housing Association and receiving a share of this funding to provide practical, community-based support. Through our Houses2Homes service and wider community activities, we can help people access essentials and connect with ongoing support.
“Together, we want to help people feel settled and supported in their homes, reaching them early before difficulties become a crisis.”
Reidvale owns and manages 901 homes in Glasgow's East End and provides housing, repairs, tenancy and community services to local people.
The £77,982.50 award forms part of the £1 million Glasgow Upstream Homelessness Prevention Fund, a Scottish Government investment administered by the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and Homeless Network Scotland.
