Having been brought up in Livingston, I moved to Glasgow when I was seventeen to go to university and have never quite made it back since. I studied to be a Primary Teacher for four years before deciding it wasn’t quite for me and went on to work with children with physical and learning disabilities and later, worked as a nanny.
In 2011, I stumbled across a job at Yoker Housing Association in the west of Glasgow and finally found the type of work I could see myself building a career in. Since then I haven’t stopped, and for three years I spent my time working between Housing Management and Maintenance and could be regularly spotted running around Yoker, rushing from one place to the next. Having completed my Masters in Housing Services and Delivery, I decided it was time for a change and I was fortunate enough to be offered the role of Assistant Maintenance Officer at Reidvale.
In the short time I have been here, I am already impressed by the enthusiasm and energy of the staff and I am heartened by the warm welcome I have received from staff and tenants alike. I have been assured by everyone I have met that working alongside Michael McMenamin will be quite an experience. Reidvale seems to be at the heart of the community and I look forward to playing a role in developing the community in the (hopefully many) years to come.
