I started working for Reidvale in 1989 after a short spell working in an Accountant’s office in London. The atmosphere in the office could not have been more different. I felt part of a community where people worked hard but also had some fun along the way. Right from the start I was encouraged to take part in meetings and get involved in things that were happening in the area. By 1989 the Association was just coming to the end of the improvement schemes so I missed most of that but there were new projects coming along. Over the years, as well as my core duties of keeping financial records for the Association, I have kept records for all sorts of projects that the Association has been involved with- New Builds, SDNC, MPHA, Major Repairs, Allotments ,the refurbishment of the Office and Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre and RAPA. I have continued involvement in RAPA, providing the committee with financial information, and am glad to be part of it’s and Reidvale Housing Association’s continued success.
On a more general note Reidvale sponsored me to take a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies at Glasgow Caledonian University which was a useful addition to the MA honours from St Andrews University which I already had on my c.v. I have also benefitted from attendance at SFHA Annual Conferences, Finance Officers Conference, Share training, and In-house development days.
