Our Area: Local Shops and Businesses
Duke Street was traditionally one of the best local shopping streets in Glasgow and was particularly well served by butchers given that the Meat Market was nearby. However, since this closed the number of butcher shops has declined. However, you can still shop for meat, fruit and vegetables on Duke Street and one of the more recent arrivals, Tapa is an organic baker and coffee shop which, it has been said, makes the best bread in Glasgow. For eating out there is a very good bistro/restaurant, Tibo and, of course, Coia’s Café.
Coia’s has been an institution on Duke Street for decades and has recently expanded to create a deli within the café.
